Lingua Medica translates into English only, from all the major European languages (including Czech, Greek, Russian and the Latin American variants of Portuguese and Spanish), Arabic, Hebrew and Japanese.
For reasons of quality control, it does not translate from English, except as an informal service to its campus colleagues. Both Charles Kreeger and Ian Young are native English speakers, and personally responsible for the quality of every text produced by Lingua Medica. Despite their familiarity with other languages, they are not competent to exercise the same level of quality control over translations from English into those languages. However, where they know by experience of a physician, pharmacist or senior bioscientist who provides work of a quality similar to their own in the opposite language direction, they are happy to pass on the recommendation, e.g. Dr Ibrahim Al-Abdulla for pharmaceutics texts from English into Arabic.
